Glossy Dark Chocolate Frosting

This goes with the Fudgy Chocolate Layer cake in Richard Sax's book.

Cream together until very light
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup confectioners sugar shifted

Add and beat til shiney and smooth
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
3 oz unsweetened chocolate melted and cooled slightly

a very rich frosting, though not very 'fluffy'
